Parking on the island can be an expensive affair but it is convenient in terms of ease of travel. There are several parking garages located in Tronchetto Island and Piazzale Roma, the latter being more convenient because it is closer to the city center.
It’s not cheap but definitely adds to a more comfortable experience since it is the main bus stop and the only town square in Venice easily accessible by bus or car. Most of the attractions in the center of the city are within walking distance from Piazzale Roma.
The biggest advantage of parking on the mainland is that the rates are much cheaper than on the island. There are several parking facilities located in Mestre but it’s time-consuming to look for one because it’s difficult to find space.
One disadvantage of parking on the mainland is that you will have to carry your bags and luggage yourself to the nearest train station or bus stop. However, parking is much more organized, and public transport and shuttle services are more accessible on the mainland.
